TsunaPop

A tile-connect puzzle in the style of Shisen-Sho: link two matching tiles with a line of up to two turns to clear them. Instead of mahjong tiles, it uses pixel-art sweets, animals, sushi, and fruit. Keep clearing at a good pace to build combos, and hit 10 for Fever. You get one 5-minute round to set a high score.

What kind of game is it?

TsunaPop starts with 80 tiles (20 kinds × 4 each) on an 8 × 10 board. Pick two tiles with the same picture, and if you can draw a line between them that turns at most twice without hitting any other tile, they disappear. The line can also run around the outside of the board. The rules are the same as the mahjong game Shisen-Sho and the Chinese game Lianliankan, but you don't need to know any mahjong tiles: you only match pictures.

You have 5 minutes. Clear the whole board and you get 20 more seconds and a fresh board drops in. The goal is to score as many points as you can before time runs out. There are two modes: Daily, where everyone plays the same board that day, and Free play, with a new board and theme every round.

Features

Combos and chains make every clear feel good

Clear another pair while the gauge at the top is still running to build a combo. Each step of the combo adds 10% to your points. The gauge starts at 5 seconds and gets shorter as the combo grows (down to 2.5 seconds). If you clear using a tile right next to one of the two you just cleared (any of the 8 surrounding squares), it's a Chain: 1.5 × points and a big gauge refill. Tiles that can make a chain light up, so they're easy to spot.

Fever at 10 combo

When your combo reaches 10, Fever starts, and your points are doubled until the combo breaks. The music speeds up, the background flashes through colors, and the game lights up one pair you can clear at a time, so you can keep tearing through the board. The sound effect rises in pitch with every clear, which makes it hard to stop.

Always-solvable boards, and help when you're stuck

Every board is checked to make sure it can be cleared completely. Depending on the order you clear tiles, you can still run out of moves; when that happens, the remaining tiles are shuffled automatically (−200 points). If you go 5 seconds without a clear, the game highlights a pair you can match and, if they're apart, shows the path as a dotted line.

Daily board and four themes

The Daily board is generated from the date, so everyone gets the same board on the same day on any device, and you can compare scores with friends. There are four themes: Sweets, Animals, Sushi, and Fruits & Jewels. In Free play you never get the same theme twice in a row. You can share your result as a short text with your score, max combo, and number of chains.

Scoring examples

Each pair you clear is worth a base of 100 points, multiplied by your combo, chain, and Fever bonuses (rounded to 10 points).

ComboNormal clearChain clear
1st100150
5th140210
10th (Fever starts)190280
11th (in Fever)400600
20th (in Fever)580870

Clearing a board also gives a bonus of 1,000 points times the number of boards you've cleared (1,000 for the first, 2,000 for the second, and so on). Whether you can keep your combo alive into Fever makes a big difference to your score.

FAQ

Does it cost anything?
No, it's free. You don't need an account or an app.
How long does one round take?
You have 5 minutes, plus 20 seconds every time you clear the board. The game pauses automatically if you switch tabs.
When does the Daily board change?
When the date changes on your device. On the same date, every device gets the same board. Your best score is saved for each date.
Which languages can I play in?
Japanese, English, Traditional Chinese, Spanish, and Korean. You can switch languages on the title screen.
Can I share my result?
Yes. Press "Share result" on the results screen to share or copy a short text with your score, max combo, chains, and boards cleared.
Is my data sent anywhere?
No. Your best scores, today's Daily score, your last theme, and your language and sound settings are stored only in your browser. The board you're playing isn't saved, so closing the page ends that round.
