What kind of game is it?

Isekai Diary is a game in which a hero who lost their life in modern-day Japan is reincarnated in another world and tries to survive for one year (52 weeks). One event happens each week. Pick how to act from 3–4 choices, and your stats, gold, allies and the rest of the story change.

It lets you play through the twists familiar from isekai anime and light novels — shielding a child from a truck, receiving a skill from a god, being fated for condemnation as the villainess — with your own choices. A run lasts until you've lived through all 52 weeks. If your HP hits 0, it's game over on the spot.

How a run goes

  1. Choose your hero: Pick a gender and your name from your past life. You keep the same name and look after you're reborn
  2. The end of a past life: How you died is chosen at random from six possibilities
  3. Meeting a god: One of four gods appears and grants you one unique skill
  4. Reincarnation: Your destination world is revealed and week 1 begins
  5. A choice every week: Choose how to respond to each event, see the result and move on to the next week
  6. Ending: Survive the week 52 finale, and your choices and stats decide how the story ends

5 worlds to be reborn in

Each time you play, your destination is picked at random from these five. Each world has completely different characters, events and endings.

WorldWhat's the story?
Kingdom of Swords and SorceryA classic hero's tale. Face the Demon Army's invasion, the capital's tournament and an attack by the Four Heavenly Kings, then take on the final battle at the Demon Lord's castle
Otome Game WorldYou're the spitting image of a missing villainess (or villainous young lord), so a ducal house takes you in as a stand-in. The key is whether good deeds and gathered evidence can overturn the condemnation waiting at the graduation party a year later
Frontier Slow LifeExiled to the edge of the kingdom, you settle a wild land. Expand the farm, grow the village and protect it from a final great monster stampede
Labyrinth CityDive into the labyrinth as a rookie adventurer and climb the adventurer ranks (F to S). The master of the labyrinth waits at the end
Reborn as a SlimeStart as a slime with no hands or feet. Choose an evolution along the way, and once you learn Human Form, events in human towns start happening too

8 unique skills

The skill a god grants you changes your starting stats and the actions you can take. Choices with a purple border, which only appear when you have the skill, are usually safe “winners.”

A big event every 3 months

Like an anime cour (3 months), weeks 13, 26, 39 and 52 are each a “Cour finale,” and a big event for your world always happens. In a big event, damage on failure is multiplied by 1.5 and check success rates drop by 10%. The basic survival strategy is to build your stats in ordinary weeks and recover HP before a big event arrives.

How checks work

For many risky actions, the success rate depends on your stat and the event's difficulty.

Success rate = 50% + (stat − difficulty) × 6% (min 6%, max 95%)

For example, attempting an action of difficulty 12 with STR 10 gives a 38% success rate. With STR 15, it goes up to 68%. Riskier choices pay off more, so deciding when to take a chance is the fun of the game. Full details and how to read the screen are on the game's “How to Play” page.

Why you can play it again and again

Your destination world, cause of death, god, skill, character names and weekly events all change every time you play. Even in the same world, the ending depends on whether you fight and win, talk it out or run away. Each world has several endings — in the Otome Game World, “Condemnation Reversed,” “Exiled Abroad” or becoming the consort of the neighboring empire's prince (or princess); as a slime, “King of the Monster Nation” or “Bridge Between Humans and Monsters.” At the end, you also receive a title based on your stats and fame.

FAQ

Does it cost anything?
No, it's free. No account or app install needed.
Where does a run end?
You reach an ending after the week 52 finale. If your HP hits 0, it's game over before then. Progress is saved automatically every week, so you can “Continue” even if you stop partway through.
Is it scary or violent?
There are fights with monsters, and a game over when your HP hits 0, but they're told through pixel art and short text. All characters, organizations and worlds are fictional.
What languages can I play in?
Japanese, English, Chinese (Simplified and Traditional), Korean and Spanish. You can switch with the language links at the top of the game screen.
Can I continue on another phone?
Progress is saved per browser, so it doesn't carry over to other devices or browsers.
